A simple and inspiring instructable. Nicely done!

With all due respect to the author, who said-
"Using reflective material will reflect more light back at the same shallow angle it needs to stay inside the plastic. Silver and aluminum are very nearly purely reflective (At least in visible light)"

All of my college classes that touched on reflectance of light did mention that white is a better reflector than "silver" which is gray, which is partly black. The flatness of a surface enhances reflection, and mirrors show an image better because of the absorption (blackness so-to-speak) of some of the light.

Taking into account the amount of light reflected versus the quality of a specular reflection from a standard mirror... the photometer reads more light coming off a pure white surface. Paint is often too rough, thus diffuse reflections result. So the choice of materials will affect the angle of reflection, or diffraction, or refraction, etc. depending upon the optical design.

When containing the light within the clear sheet, polished and flat edges are preferred. And a smooth reflective backing such as foil tape is an easy way to get a much flatter surface.

In a theoretical perfect world, one might want to use a nano particle sized coating of Titianium dioxide applied to a perfectly square and flat polished edge... HA! (Not going to happen for most of us unless we have access to optical fabbing equipment!)

I have heard that some audiophiles are simply turned off by the so-called signature sound of moving magnet cartridges. After my experience with the Grado MM I don't know what they are talking about. The Reference 1 has a highly detailed, hi-res sound that is never metallic or annoying, even with poorer recordings. Neither is there the unnaturally rising high end slope of many MC cartridges. I can't imagine anyone being displeased with the sweet sound of this lovely cartridge. If you are looking for a quality cartridge, don't count out MM designs, especially this one. If your turntable system isn't quite at the level of my vacuum SOTA/SME/MapleShade-supported system, check out some of the other Reference Series models, at prices down to around $300, or the Prestige Series, running from about $60 to $220.

I actually purchased this program before watching the video. Only because of there reputation. I have something like 10-12 other programs of there’s and they are all good. They are all easy to learn and like wise with this one. Its always good to watch the videos because I always pick up somethings I didn’t figure out. Then there’s the videos you have in your archives just incase you forgot something.
I have been with Topaz for about 6yr. There is nobody else. They are so good at what they do. I have been doing this for almost 50yr and have a Master Degree. So I know what I am talking about. I am not giving my name because its not about me. Its all about the Product’s, the Satff, Teachers, and those that are behind the scenes that makes this company what it is.
I would recommend this product to a friend Was this helpful?

I have used Topaz plug-ins for many years. I have seen their applications grow; features expand, user interfaces become increasingly sophisticated without becoming overwhelming, and who could forget the amazing Webinars hosted by Nichol Paschal and a so many extraordinary, talented and celebrated users. I am a proud owner of the entire Topaz Suite and it is an essential part of my post processing workflow. I cannot say that one is more ‘valuable’ than another, but I can say that there are some plug-ins that really take things to the ‘next level’ — ReStyle, for its daring ingenuity stands out here. The user interfaces have become increasingly flexible (the ‘left side/right side model being the most valuable).
